KATHMANDU: The Nepal Academy on Sunday held discussions with the experts on changing the name of awards that it has been presenting under different categories.
During the discussions, the experts came up with different views on changing the name of prizes and awards being conferred by the Academy.
Some of them suggested to the Academy to amend the name of the awards bearing the name of the former kings and queens like Prithvi Pragya Puraskar, the Tribhuvan Pragya Puraskar, the Mahendra Pragya Puraskar, the Indra Rajya Laxmi Pragya Puraskar and the Birendra Pragya Lankar, among others since there is no kingship in the country while some others opined that it was not necessary to change the name of awards representing the name of the persons of historic importance.
The discussion programme was organised with a view to changing the names of the awards as per the political change in the country and the decision to this regard will be taken considering all suggestions, said Chancellor of Academy Bairagi Kainla
