Germany gives EUR 32.7m



    KATHMANDU, DEC 07 -
    The government of the Federal Republic of Germany on Tuesday allocated EUR 32.7 million for new and ongoing development programmes in Nepal.
    In a meeting held at the Ministry of Finance (MoF), German Ambassador to Nepal Verena Grafin Roedern and Finance Secretary Rameshwor Prasad Khanal affirmed the continued partnership.
    “Nepal-German cooperation will continue to focus on the promotion of local governance and civil society, renewable energy and energy efficiency and health sector,” a press release issued by the German Embassy said. “Support to the peace process and promotion of trade and economic growth will also remain the areas of partnership,” it added.
    Of the total grant for the fiscal year 2010/11, EUR 10 million will be earmarked for the health sector, 8.5 million for local governance, while 4 million will be granted to the Nepal Peace Trust Fund, according to the press release.
